Ramen And Asian-Centric Dishes.
Baka Umai is a Japanese inspired, Portland evolved ramen experience.
So if ramen were to have been invented in Portland, would it be exactly the same as what we see in Japan? We think not, which is why we take the ramen concept... and make it distinctly Portland. That's why we are committed to sourcing the freshest ingredients from local farmers to craft the perfect bowl of noodles.

Combination of great fundamentals (noodles, soup) with inspired toppings (chicken thigh char siu, pickled shiitake). Mala shio ramen is the best bowl of ramen I've ever had, and I'm from Japan!

Baka Umai is one of my favorite ramen restaurants in Portland. The silky red tonkotsu is warm and comforting and their specials are really creative. The gyoza are a standout too but you really can't go wrong with anything.

Super friendly staff. Authentic. We did not feel rushed at all. Quiet afternoon. Great place to visit with a friend and catch up. The food is delicious! Seafood options and dessert. Thank you! We loved it.

Ordered the Mala Miso Ramen and the flavor profile of the dish was out of this world, probably one of my favorite ramen dishes I've had, and I had plenty back in the east coast. Would recommend this dish!

Best ramen taste in town so far! We drove all the way from Seattle and surprised ourselves with this tasty ramen place, serving by passionated staffs. Chorizo-Men and Tonkatsu are what we get this time. Recommended.
